Privacy policy

Effective date: 20 October 2026. This policy describes Intent Gate 0.3.2, a browser extension that helps you pause before selected sites, write an intention and review your browsing activity locally.

Data processed on your device

Intent Gate processes the following data to provide the features you enable:

• Protected and loop-reminder hostnames, wait times, suggested alternatives and other settings.
• Written intentions, hostnames, timestamps, time waited and whether you continued or left a gate.
• Visit counts and active browsing time while an authorized protected page is visible and the browser window is focused.
• Manual Tired mode and nightly self-check preferences, responses and suppression timestamps. Tired mode is a user preference; the extension does not detect fatigue or provide a medical assessment.
• Session-only full pending destination URLs, loop navigation, grace periods and reminder state needed to return to the correct page and avoid repeated prompts.
• Transient interaction, focus, typing and fullscreen signals used to avoid interrupting you at unsuitable moments. It checks whether you are interacting or typing; it does not record what keys you type into websites.

Storage, retention and control

Settings and shared self-check state use chrome.storage.local. Activity records and daily usage use IndexedDB inside your browser profile. Session navigation and reminder state use chrome.storage.session and are cleared when the browser session ends.

Activity history is retained locally until you clear it; the dashboard shows the newest 100 records for display, and CSV export can include the full history. Use the dashboard to clear activity. Removing the extension or clearing its data removes local records and settings. CSV files you choose to export remain under your control and must be deleted separately if you no longer want them.

Site access and local reminders

The extension requests access when you add or enable a hostname. That hostname and its standard www alias are covered; other subdomains must be added separately. Bundled scripts on authorized sites show your intention and reminders and measure active time. The extension does not scrape website articles, messages, images, audio or video.

Local browser rules use declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess to hold top-level network navigations to selected, authorized hostnames while the intention gate is displayed. Continue temporarily releases navigation only for that tab, hostname and the extension initiator. These rules add no new host access and send no activity or settings data to external services.

No developer data collection or sharing

The extension does not send your settings, intentions or activity to the developer, analytics providers or advertisers. It has no accounts, advertisements, analytics, remote code or external service calls. Navigating to a website you choose still makes normal browser requests to that website, which is governed by that website’s own policies.

Intent Gate does not sell or transfer user data to third parties, use or transfer it for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. Intent Gate’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website and support messages

This privacy/support website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical request information under GitHub’s privacy statement. This site contains no analytics, tracking scripts, remote fonts, forms or cookies added by the publisher.

If you email support, the information you choose to include is received by the support mailbox and used to respond to your request. Do not send sensitive browsing records or full activity exports unless they are necessary and you choose to share them. This is separate from the extension’s local activity storage. The developer does not automatically receive your local records.
